On Thursday, January 24, at 7:00 pm the Soper Reese Theatre will screen the first of a four-part series chosen from the award winning Art In the Twenty-First Century (Art21) program produced by PBS. Viewers will travel the world to meet the leading creative visual artists of our time who draw upon their relationships with the locations and people where they live and work.
The January show visits the San Francisco Bay Area and meets with Katy Grannan, Stephanie Syjuco, Lynn Hershman Leeson, and various artists from the Creative Growth Art Center in Oakland. The work of these ground-breaking artists can be seen in collections at the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and The Guggenheim Museum, and can be found in the modern art collections of the New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Smithsonian Museums.
