The Lovely Little Town by the Lake

 

     Rich in history dating back over a hundred years, the City of Lakeport lies on the shore of Clear Lake, the largest natural lake in California and one of the premier bass fishing waters in the country.  Located two and a half hours north of San Francisco and two hours northwest of Sacramento, the area lays claim to the cleanest air quality in the state and is home to award winning vineyards and wineries, not to mention an extinct volcano.

     As the oldest incorporated community in the county, and the county seat, the city is also the regional center of commerce and government.

 

Small Town Charm 

     With a population of just under 5,000, Lakeport is known for its beautifully restored historic downtown, inviting lakeside park, quiet residential neighborhoods and friendly people.   Free public boat ramps, water sports equipment rentals, and a lively mix of restaurants, shops, B&Bs and vacation home rentals, make the town an ideal place to visit.

 

Great Entertainment Choices 

     A year long schedule of special events include summer concerts at the lakeside park, an annual Taste of Lakeport in mid-August, the children's pet parade, a duct tape boat race, an amphibious airplane fly-in, a wooden boat show, concerts, plays and films at the historic community theatre, and fireworks on the lake on the 4th. For a full listing of events please visit the Calendar section.
